Child Care

Akron Children’s Center provides child care services for infants through school-age children.  Our operating hours are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of major holidays and one staff retreat day each year.

We believe the first few years of a child’s life are the most important in their development.  It is during this period that most of the foundations of intellectual and emotional learning are built.  The Center offers a stimulating and loving environment to help children thrive and build the foundation for further development.

The Infant Room provides care for babies starting at age 6 weeks through 18 months.  The room includes cribs and equipment that meet or exceed state standards for safety.  The staff to child ratio is 1 caregiver to 4 infants.

The Toddler Room provides care for children ages 18 months through 3 years.

The Yellow Room provides care for children ages 3-5 years when preschool classes are not in session.

All child care programs include:

  • Age appropriate learning activities
  • Nutritious lunches and snacks prepared on-site and served family style
  • Multiple reading and literacy opportunities each day
  • Time for creative play
  • Time for outside play in Center’s fenced playground area
  • Music activities
  • Opportunity to develop social skills
